Dear Anant
This letter is addressed to you in your darkest period. When you were 17 years old, your heart had just broken. You never thought it possible to recover. You would have gladly ended things if only you had the courage.
You assumed your pain encompassed that of all the world. No one had ever felt the depth of pain you did. Typical drama queen.
You had plenty of room in your heart for hatred. You wanted people to fail. You wanted misery heaped upon those who wronged you.
You were still a gentle soul though. You helped others, when you could. You were happy to be the fall guy, the foil that kept things light enough for your community to stay together. You never forgot how to smile.
Even when the world felt like it was closing in, you found a way to hold onto that little spark—a quiet reminder that life had more to offer, even if you couldn’t see it yet.
This letter is to you, describing the person you will eventually become.
You will manage to get your heart broken yet another time, and there will be a part of you that will always wonder if it will ever be able to fully heal.
It does though, slowly. Time heals all wounds.
You will actually do quite well in college. You will be a moderate student, actually excelling at a few things. You will feel achievement, and joy all over again. You will allow yourself to be appointed leader, a mistake that will haunt you for ages. You will recover though, and actually do some good for your country.
You will find love that you never imagined you could deserve. Love that enhances you, pulsating through you to encompass the entire world. Surely no one has experienced the depth of love I have?
You will begin to build capital, and set out on goals for objectives that are years away. You will strive to help those who surround you achieve the best version of themselves.
You will begin to meditate, and dive deep within yourself, understanding awareness as deeply as you can.
You will be a kind person, and people will love that they know you.
You will, eventually, begin to believe in yourself.
